Quote of the day

While playing house, I overheard one of the kids say to the another, "Don't touch my food storage!" We must be doing at least one thing right!!

Calling all Organizers...

Now that winter is here, we have the joy of the snow, sledding, snowfort building and... soggy boots, gloves, mittens, hats, scarves, coats, and snowpants!
Every year I seem to struggle with how to organize all these essential winter clothing items for 11 people! I thought I'd ask for advise this year to help me out. Here is my laundry room/utility room. This is where we come in and out of the house.

The door is to the left of the hanging coats:

The littles' coats are hung behind the door low so they can reach them. The bathroom door is to the left in this picture and the outside door is to the right:
Does anyone have any ideas? Any gagets or gizmos that might help? Right now, they hang their snowpants behind their coats and their boots go on the shelves. The mittens, gloves, hats and scarves are our biggest dilema. They just end up on the floor or in the rubbermaid container that they have to dig through each time they want to go outside.
I can't wait to hear all your ideas!

It's Wintertime!

Here is what we woke up to this morning:

I think this calls for a SNOW DAY!!!

You just gotta laugh!

Let me tell you about my night...Lacy kept complaining that her stomach was hurting, so we put her on the couch to sleep, then Todd and I got ready to go to sleep. Next thing we know, Preston is running in our room telling us that Carter just threw up. Well, in our house, not just one person gets the stomach flu. So, my night included: 3 beds being stripped, waking up every 15-45 minutes to the lovely sound of "blahh!", keeping the washing machine and dryer going constantly so we were sure to have enough towels, spraying lysol, nursing Emiline, changing 1 exploding diaper (hey, the big kids can't have all the fun!), washing puke out of hair, denying water to a very whiny 4 year old, and trying to keep a smile on my face.

Hopefully today will be less eventful!!
