The Secret Behind the Bacon

We had breakfast for dinner the other night and when Dexter saw me pull out the bacon, he asked if he could make it. Who am I to deny one of my kids the opportunity to do something so I don't have to, so of course I said "Yes!" As we were in the kitchen cooking together (that was really quite fun--I don't do enough of that), it comes out that the reason Dexter wanted to make the bacon was that he doesn't like the way I make it--too crunchy for his taste. That got me thinking...what else can I make not to his liking so he is apt to volunteer to do it???

I Love to See the Temple

This past weekend, we were at the temple for a friend's wedding. Todd was a witness, so the kids and I stayed outside and greeted the newly married couple when they came out. It was so neat to feel the spirit and for the kids to feel it too. They really liked the words on the temple. As I was taking this picture, they kept asking to make sure I was getting the words in the picutre. I feel so blessed to have a temple so close by so that they can experience the feelings there and make that a goal for themselves.
Of course, we had to visit the bathroom, so after explaining that they must be on their best behavior, we took them all into the waiting room of the temple so they could each take care of business. Family members of the wedding party were in the waiting room and boy, did we get some looks!! I guess it is a sight to see 8 little munchkins walking through the waiting room. I do have to say that they behaved perfectly, even Creed and Kennedy were whispering. I was so proud of them!

Beautiful Raina

I just ran across this picture on my camera and wanted to share. Raina had just gotten back to grandma's house from the wedding of Brenda's friend and she was sooo tired. She was just as cute as could be but was trying really hard not to lose it, especially with all these aunts and uncles and cousins around. That little girl is so cute!

My little corn huskers

Ok, so I got really bored of seeing the same post day after day, but I really didn't have anything new to tell. (Is my life THAT boring??) So, I went through the camera and found this picture. I had a couple more, but they wouldn't upload. Anyway, about a month ago, we were having corn on the cob and the kids asked if they could husk the corn. "Sure," I said expecting to have to redo their work. Wow! Was I surprised when the corn cobs came back to me totally clean. I think they did a better job than I do. We also had a bonus of making corn husk dolls a few days later. That is always fun.
